“3, 2, 1 ACTION” That’s something you’re unlikely to hear at a refugee camp and this is what has made it a big publishable event for our journal this year.

In the midst of a hot June in the YES space where the youth usually spend time playing ping pong, cards and chess, the idea of filming a short movie randomly pops up in a conversation. “I never thought we’d be able to film a movie at the camp” said Taim, one of the leading actors in the short film “The Twin”. The silent five-minute film shows the life of wandering twins who keep fighting over silly stuff all the time yet agree on one single thing which is going home once they get the chance. The movie reflects the spirit the youth have around the space. “We’re sick and tired of showing the life of a refugee as a tragedy so we wanted to do some comedy” said Hussein, one of the leading actors in the movie.

Inspired by Charlie Chaplin’s movies, the crew decided to show the bittersweet life of refugee twins who leave their country searching for a place to settle in but when they find a gate that leads straight back to their hometown, they decide to go home. Just few hours before the shoot, everyone was getting ready with props, makeup and costumes then the camera started rolling. “It was one of the most beautiful and inspiring experiences I’ve gone through” said Sally Kandil, a YES volunteer who helped with filming the movie.

On the following day, the youth gathered to attend the editing session in one of the YES ISOboxs and everyone started walking into the room to watch the first cut. “Their eyes sparkled once they saw the film on my laptop’s screen” added Kandil describing how it felt to work between so many talented youth. The movie made a huge buzz in the camp and some of the youth filled their social media platforms with posts of appreciation and pride.

Whatever it is the guys choose to do now and wherever each one of them decides to go, there will always be the fact that they have cemented so many memories in the camp through this unforgettable experience.

"3، 2، 1 أكشن" تلك هي الكلمات التي لا تسمعها في الغالب في مخيم للاجئين ولذلك قررنا نشر التجربة ومشاركتها مع قراء جريدتنا هذا العام. في وسط شهر يونيو الحار وبمحيط YES  الخاص بمؤسسة لايت هاوس ريليف حيث يقضي الشباب الوقت في لعب الشطرنج والبينج بونج, تولد فكرة تصوير فيلم قصير في محادثة عابرة. "لم أتصور أبداً أنه بإمكاننا تصوير فيلم هنا في المخيم" قال تيم وهو أحد أبطال الفيلم القصير "توأم مختلفين"

تروي قصة الفيلم الصامت الذي تبلغ مدته خمس دقائق قصة شابين توأم يختلفان على كل شئ و ولكن عندما يقع أمامهما إختيار العودة إلى ديارهما, يتفقان وبدون جدال على هذا فور إستطاعتهما. ينقل الفيلم الروح التي يخلقها الشباب دائماً بمحيط المؤسسة في المخيم. "مللنا من مشاهدة الأفلام التي تظهر حياة اللاجئ فقط كدراما حزينة ولذلك قررنا عمل شئ كوميدي" قال حسين وهو البطل الآخر في الفيلم. في هذه القصة المستوحاة أحداثها من أفلام تشارلي تشابلن، قرر فريق العمل نقل بعض اللقطات الحلوة والمرة لشابين توأم يتركان ديارهما للبحث عن الإستقرار وحياة أفضل. تتوالى أحداث الفيلم الكوميدية حتى يرى الشابان بوابةً توصل إلى سوريا ثم يقرران عبور تلك البوابة للوصول إلى وطنهما.

قبل بضع ساعات من التصوير، إستعد جميع العاملين بالفيلم و حضَّروا كل من الملابس وأدوات التمثيل والماكياج ثم تم الضغط على الزر الأحمرللتسجيل وعم الصمت على المكان. "كانت من أجمل وأكثر التجارب الملهمة التي مررت بها في حياتي" قالت سالي قنديل وهي إحدى المتطوعات بفريق لايت هاوس ريليف وهي من ساعدت في تصوير الفيلم.

ثم بدء الجميع في المجئ إلى مكان المونتاج لمشاهدة الفيلم كامل لأول مرة. "لمعت أعينهم بمجرد رؤية الفيلم على شاشة الكمبيوتر" أضافت قنديل وهي تصف تجربتها في العمل مع مجموعة من الشباب الموهوبين. تسبب الفيلم في إحداث ضجة كبيرة في المخيم ثم نشر الشباب الفيلم على صفحاتهم الشخصية لوسائل التواصل الإجتماعي لديهم معبرين عن فرحتهم وفخرهم بالعمل.

أياً كانت قرارتهم للمرحلة القادمة، ستظل تجربة الفيلم هي إحدى الصور التذكارية التي خَلَّدها هؤلاء الشباب في كل ركن بالمخيم و التي لن تنسى أبداً
