The Water

The Water

We walk around in a daze
All of us stuck in our ways
Killing our self's over little grades
If not we are lost like a stray
But why can't I say
That as I lay
Awake and pray
That I make it through another day
My soul is bleeding
The pain feels strong
My heart is hungry
I command you to be gone
I walk down the street
Music is playing
Homeless dude on the road
Never complaining
But never containing
What he feels inside
His poverty hurts
He has nowhere to turn or hide
So he walks the street
Carrying this sign
Asking for money
A few pennies or dimes
But is he the fool
Or the enlightened one?
Am I an intellectual
Or am I fighting one?
He has no shame
Just enjoying his life
Never stressing about bills
Or turned off lights
The homeless man
I wish to be like
Not poor and homeless
But prideful and alive
I Am The Son
Not of the Holy Spirit
But a proud child
With ears that hear it
Another siren blows
Another man shot dead
Another riot being shown
Another nail to my head
Another momma crying
Another black man gone
Another white cop at fault
Another division has grown
But who is the killer
And who is the victim
We all are both
Just products of the system
I fear for the future
But never afraid to die
Afraid that i'm the only one
Who is seeing the lie
It's not about black and white
Or a nation torn in two
It's about the ignorance and intelligence
And what we choose
A black man I am
Discriminated against
But I be damned if I let this system
Control my wits
From Dr. King to Malcolm X
Or Einstein and Bill Gates
We all need to see the system
One that feeds off of hate
It is our job to support
Regardless of our skin
Whether we're Eli Whitney
Or spinning his cotton gin
Whether we're Garrett Morgan
Or running his stop light
In the end we are all one
And we all must fight
Will my dreams come true?
I guess i'll find out
But you can take nothing from me
That I won't hand out
Feel my words
Embrace the truth
The gold is nice
But the water is proof
The water is honest
It's pure and clean
Drink more of this water
And join my team
What is fallacy?
What is truth?
Chasing this downpour
But it remains aloof
May it rain down on me
For 40 days and nights
Supply me with this water
And rehydrate my life
