Magic Elizabeth
“I wonder what she’s like,” Sally said, “but that doesn’t mean I should go to her house.” Sally was afraid, she thought, “what if my aunt is evil or she doesn’t like me.” Her face was traumatized and just then Mrs. Chipley looked over at her.
“Sally, you are going to be fine. I’m sure your aunt will love you. You have nothing to be afraid of.” Sally heard Mrs. Chipley, but the problem was she didn’t believe Mrs. Chipley. No matter what, Sally could not be convinced that her Aunt Sarah was a good person. She would do everything in her power to convince Mrs. Chipley not to take her to her aunt’s house.
First, she ran into a huge puddle and got Mrs. Chipley and her all wet, but it didn’t work. All that happened was that she got scolded.
Secondly, she ran half-way down North Street when she was suppose to go to Westley Street. Mrs. Chipley chased her for 5 minutes.
Third, she had almost run out of options and the only thing she could think of throwing a tantrum. So, that is what she did, she was six years old and she didn’t know any better. Her tantrum lasted 15 minutes!
Finally, Mrs. Chipley grabbed her by her arm and said “You have made me extremely enraged. We are going to your aunt’s house whether you like it or not.” For the next 20 minutes they marched down Brown Street and arrived at her Aunt Sarah’s house just in time. Aunt Sarah opened the door and smiled, but Sally looked petrified. As they entered the house, Sally looked around. She saw boxes and sheets over the furniture, everything except the couch was covered. Mrs. Chipley and Sarah talked for a while and before long Mrs. Chipley handed over Sally’s overnight bag and left.
“So, what do you want to do?” Aunt Sarah asked.
“Ummm... are you talking to me?” Sally asked.
Aunt Sarah giggled, “Yes, I am talking to you. Sally it is ok, you don’t have to worry. Mrs. Chipley told me about your worries and I understand. Just treat me like one of your friends and I’ll do the same.”
Sally saw that her aunt wasn’t as frightening as she thought. Sally had fun that weekend, she was kind of sad that her aunt was going back to California. Maybe when her parents came back she could visit.
