2023 Narratio Fellowship

In 2023, Narratio continued to expand its impact through its fourth annual Fellowship program, welcoming two cohorts of refugee youth Fellows across Richmond, Virginia, and Syracuse, New York. The program engaged a new generation of artists and storytellers while deepening its commitment to shaping the global conversation around displacement and cultural production.

The Syracuse cohort was led by Afghan-American artist Zelikha Zohra Shoja, while the Richmond cohort was led by Egyptian-American artist Céline Aziza Kaldas Anderson. Fellows from both cities selected objects from The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Ancient Near East Department and created poetic and visual pieces inspired by the memories and experiences they evoked. Through media training, leadership development, and academic advising, Fellows built a body of work showcased at performances and exhibits, continuing Narratio’s legacy of reaching millions worldwide.
